Dog Pet Supplies

When you decide to buy or adopt a dog or puppy, there are several supplies you need to buy. Although you probably already thought of some of the basics like leash, collar and food, there are many other necessary supplies your pet dog needs.
Food
You need the right food for your dog. When you get your new dog, talk to your veterinarian to determine the right type of food. Puppies need food designed for their growing bodies, and there is even food specifically designed for large breed puppies and small breed puppies. Some dogs are allergic to grains, so they need grain-free food. You can also discus raw food, canned food and dry food options with your vet.
Training
There are a number of supplies you need for training. A dog crate is essential as crate training your dog has many benefits. Many pet dog owners use clicker training. If you decide to use this method, you need a clicker. Treats are also necessary, and it is helpful to have a pouch for carrying treats.
Grooming
Dogs need regular grooming. Even if you hire a groomer to care for your dog, you must brush your dog daily at home. Recommended grooming supplies include two dog brushes (in case one gets lost or chewed up), nail clippers and dog safe shampoo.
Daily care and exercise
Your dog needs a collar, and puppies need several as they grow out of collars frequently. A short training leash is recommended in addition to a long or retractable leash. Since your dog needs regular exercise and you are a good neighbor, it is good to have doggy bags for picking up your dog's poo. There are also many types of dispensers for the bags, and some are designed to clip to the leash for ease. Dogs enjoy having a soft bed to lay on, so having at least one dog bed is recommended. You need flea treatments for monthly application, and your vet may also recommend monthly heart worm treatment. Toys and chew treats are also necessary. A bored dog is a naughty dog, so make sure your dog or puppy has plenty of toys and chewing treats. Kong is a well-known brand of durable dog toys, and you can find all kinds of toys for physical and mental stimulation. Chewing treats include rawhide bones and pigs ears, and these can keep a puppy busy for hours.
When you have a dog or puppy, you are responsible for having the necessary supplies to keep your pet healthy, safe and happy.
